The JZ Exam Set B Live Mock
Saturday 19 September 2026, from 2:00 pm BST. A free, scheduled sitting of JZ Exam Set B for PLUS beta members: two 75-minute papers with a break between them.
This live mock has been cancelled
The sitting has been called off because of a technical fault. No paper can be started and no results will be published for it. Any answers you saved are kept against your account. A new date will be announced on the live mocks page.
What it is
JZ Exam Set B is first being released through this live mock. Everyone taking part sits the same two papers at the same time, under timed conditions. Afterwards, Set B becomes available to all PLUS beta members to attempt and revisit in the simulator.
Timetable
All times are BST.
| Stage | Opens | Hard cutoff |
|---|---|---|
| Paper 1 | 2:00 pm | 3:25 pm |
| Paper 2 | 3:30 pm | 4:55 pm |
You have 75 minutes from the moment your paper is delivered to your browser, never past the hard cutoff. Starting late gives you the time remaining to the cutoff — nobody gets more than 75 minutes. For example, if Paper 1 loads at 2:00 pm you have until 3:15 pm; if it loads a few minutes late you still have the full 75 minutes, as long as that ends by 3:25 pm; if you start twenty minutes late you have until 3:25 pm.
Paper 2 opens at 3:30 pm whatever time you finish Paper 1 — a break of about 15 minutes, and never less than 5.
How to start
- Be signed in as a PLUS beta member.
- Open this page from 1:30 pm. The box at the top shows a countdown.
- When Paper 1 opens, press Start Paper 1. The paper opens at once and your time starts when it is delivered to your browser.
- When you have submitted Paper 1, come back to this page and wait for Paper 2.
Your time does not restart if you refresh or reopen the paper, and the clock keeps running if your browser closes. If that happens, return here and press Continue.
Why should you take part?
- Practise pacing and stamina: sit two 75-minute papers with a fixed break and no pausing.
- A shared exam experience: attempt the same papers at the same time as other students, working towards fixed finishing times.
- Put your results in context: we plan to provide estimated TMUA-equivalent scores, your private position within the participating cohort and a breakdown of how students performed on each question.
- Learn from the experience: review the questions, worked solutions and your mistakes afterwards to guide your next steps.
Who can take part
The live mock is free for PLUS beta members. Joining PLUS beta is free once you have completed two different full papers in the JZMaths simulator, whatever your scores — see the PLUS beta page for the full offer and how to join.
How the sitting works
- Each paper lasts 75 minutes from the moment it is delivered to your browser, and closes at the hard cutoff at the latest.
- The sitting cannot be paused. If your browser closes or you disconnect, return to this page and press Continue — your answers are saved as you go, but the clock continues.
- Each paper submits automatically when its time ends. Answers saved before then count even if you never come back.
- Marks are not shown when you submit. Your raw marks are sent to your inbox after Paper 2's cutoff, once every paper has been finalised — at about 5:00 pm. If that takes a little longer, this page will say results are being prepared.
Extra time
This first live sitting is a pilot, helping us test the format and improve the experience. Unfortunately, extra-time arrangements will not be available for the live pilot. I am sorry for that limitation. Students who need extra time can attempt Set B afterwards using the simulator's usual extra-time settings.
After the mock
We plan to give each participant:
- their marks;
- estimated TMUA-equivalent scores for each paper and overall (provisional);
- their private position within the participating cohort — a comparison with the students taking this mock, not a national TMUA ranking;
- a brief question-level breakdown for the cohort.
You will also be able to review the questions and worked solutions, and revisit your mistakes. Score estimates for new papers are provisional and may be refined as more students attempt them.
Can't make it?
You do not need to attend the live event to receive Set B. After the mock, it will be available to all PLUS beta members in the simulator, including those who join later. Later attempts will not change the original event rankings. Like all PLUS beta papers, Set B is available until 8 January 2027 at 11:59 pm GMT.
