JZMaths is owned and operated by Joe Zhou, a UK-based sole trader. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what rights you have under UK GDPR.

1. Information We Collect

• Account Information: Email address, first name, and last name (used to generate your avatar initials)
• Usage Data: Paper attempts, answers, flagged questions, time spent, and scores
• Technical Data: Sign-in session cookies, local storage for paper-in-progress state, and basic server logs (including IP address) kept by our hosting provider

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide the exam simulator and track your progress
• Let you resume papers you have paused or left open
• Respond to support requests and account questions
• Send service-related emails (for example, password resets)

We do not send marketing emails. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.

3. Information Sharing

We share data only with service providers that help us run the site:

• Supabase: Database hosting and authentication
• Namecheap: Domain registration

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored on Supabase servers in the European Union. We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your data from active systems within 30 days; backups are fully purged within 90 days. Anonymous sessions (for users who start a paper without signing up) are deleted automatically after 90 days of inactivity.

5. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Correct any data that is wrong
• Delete your account and your data
• Receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Object to how we process your data
• Withdraw any consent you have given

6. Cookies

We use cookies and local storage only for things that are strictly necessary:

• Keeping you signed in
• Saving your progress on papers in progress

We do not use cookies for analytics, advertising, or tracking. Because these cookies are strictly necessary for the site to function, we do not display a consent banner.

7. Children's Privacy

This service is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you are aged 13–17, we recommend you discuss signing up with a parent or guardian.

8. International Transfers

Your data is stored within the European Union. We do not transfer your personal data outside the UK or the EU.

9. Security

We use reasonable security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and the security features provided by Supabase. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be signposted on the site. The Effective Date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent change.
