TMUA Access Arrangements and Financial Support
If you need adjustments to sit the TMUA, or help with the cost, look into this early. There are three separate forms of support worth distinguishing:
| Support | What it helps with | Who handles it |
|---|---|---|
| Access arrangements | Adjustments to the test experience | UAT-UK and Pearson |
| Test-fee bursary | Paying for the official test | UAT-UK |
| JZMaths FSM access | Access to our paid preparation bundle | JZMaths |
Approval for one does not automatically apply to another.
Access arrangements
UAT-UK considers requests linked to disabilities, learning differences, sensory impairments and medical conditions. Possible adjustments include extra time, approved rest breaks, a separate room, or support with reading and recording answers.
Apply before selecting or booking your test, and wait for approval. Existing school arrangements do not transfer automatically. Request each adjustment you need and provide the specified evidence.
For students in education, evidence may include an appropriate school letter or accepted JCQ documentation. Read the current requirements with your SENCo or relevant member of staff.
Most requests may take up to 10 working days; non-standard requests can take longer. Follow the booking instructions supplied with your approval. UAT-UK says arrangements cannot simply be added to an existing booking.
Read the official access-arrangements guidance.
Extra time and rest breaks are different
Extra time gives you longer to work. Approved pause-the-clock breaks allow a break under specific conditions. One should not be assumed to include the other.
Practise with the arrangements actually approved for you. If a confirmation is unclear, ask before test day rather than hoping the invigilator can change it when you arrive.
Help with the test fee
The UAT-UK bursary scheme covers the test fee for eligible candidates who live permanently in the UK and plan to test at a UK centre.
Eligibility routes include qualifying free school meals, a 16–19 bursary, care-leaver status and specified means-tested benefits, subject to the scheme's age, education and evidence rules. Check the full criteria rather than assuming FSM is the only route.
Apply through your UAT-UK account before selecting or paying for the test. Wait for approval, then book. UAT-UK does not reimburse a fee paid before applying for the bursary. Applications can take up to five working days.
January 2027 deadlines
- Access-arrangement requests: 7 December 2026, 6pm GMT.
- Bursary requests: 14 December 2026, 6pm GMT.
- Test booking: 21 December 2026, 6pm GMT.
These are separate deadlines. Use UAT-UK's current schedule and apply early enough to resolve missing evidence.
Free JZMaths access for FSM students
Students eligible for free school meals can request the PLUS bundle free of charge. This is separate from the official test-fee bursary.
Our free-access page explains the current process, including the account requirements and school confirmation. Please follow that page and do not purchase the bundle first.
Jackie and I want these resources to be available to students who would benefit from them, regardless of whether they can afford the bundle. You do not need to apologise for asking.
A useful first step
Ask your school for help gathering the right evidence, then keep copies of your applications and approvals together. Check your booking confirmation against the arrangements you expected.
It is easier to resolve a missing detail while there is still time to do something about it.
